About Us

The Voujon is a family owned and managed chain of restaurants offering excellent Bengali inspired food to the people of Rutland & Stamford. The first restaurant in Oakham was bought by Anwar Hussein in 1995 and quickly gained a reputation of offering excellent food and outstanding service. The Oakham restaurant attracted curry lovers from all over the county and indeed surrounding areas – from Peterborough, Stamford, Bourne and the Deepings. Its excellent reputation soon put the restaurant on the map of the best places to dine locally.

In 2007 a taste of Bengali was brought to Stamford by Anwar and his brother in law Justin. After spending a lot of time, love - and of course money - renovating two town houses in the heart of this historical market town, The Voujon opened its doors and quickly became established as one of the places to eat, drink and enjoy Indian cuisine in Lincolnshire. This reputation was gained very quickly due to the excellent reputation of Oakham and the successful launch evening on Monday 4th June where local business people, councillors and regular customers enjoyed a charity evening where over £600 was raised for local charity The Matt Hampson trust.

The Voujon offers an electric mix of traditional and modern, western and Indian all fused together to offer a relaxed and convivial dining experience. But don’t just take our word for it – book a table today and enjoy an unforgettable Bengali experience.
